For a number of reasons including dwindling views for posts and wanting
to spend less time online I had been considering bringing this blog to
an end at the end of 2019. I have also considered the option of continuing in
a much reduced format - which may be a better solution, into 2020.
Given some recent online 'issues' I've decided to bring forward the
slimmed down version. If the views continue as they have recently then
the decision to finish up on December 31st will be made for me. So, from
now on the format of the blog will be a brief introductory paragraph
(where, who with, what for....) followed by a selection of photos and
finally a list of species seen - so basically just losing the 'story' of
the day. I'd be interested in hearing opinions on whether this 'new'
look is better, or worse, but I suspect no-one particularly cares either
way. So without any further ado.....

Little Stint |
I had missed out on a planned trip to Musselburgh last Wednesday with Paul to try
for Little Stint and Red Necked Grebe and then onto Barns Ness for Barred
Warbler. Ian messaged me on Friday to see if I fancied a trip through on
Sunday for the Musselburgh birds then if there was anything else of
note reported we would make a detour on our way back to Perth, where Ian
picks me up/drops me off. We successfully found the Little Stint at the Lagoons then
spent the rest of the day scanning through the birds offshore for Red
Necked Grebe but failing to see it - though others did. Nothing else was
reported so we headed for home around 1540. Decent enough haul of
species seen and plenty of help/chat from the locals (as always) which was very much appreciated.
