Having rearranged my annual leave a little I was only back at work for 2 days then off again for 2 more weeks. For my Wednesday outing I was undecided where to go as there was nothing of note around and the winds and tides were rather unfavourable. I settled on a trip to the Carnoustie area where I would walk to Easthaven via Craigmill burn then back along to Carnoustie via Craigmill Den. As expected there was little of interest around and most of what there was turned out to be rather distant. Red Throated Diver, Stonechat, Wheatear and Blackcap were probably the best of the 54 species seen.

Carnoustie to Easthaven - Meadow Pipit, Oystercatcher, Common Gull, Grey Wagtail, Red Throated Diver, Pied Wagtail, Rock Pipit, Linnet, Cormorant, Goosander, Eider, Blackbird, Redshank, Skylark, Bar Tailed Godwit, Stonechat, Wheatear, Robin, Pink Footed Goose, Jackdaw, House Martin, Great Black Backed Gull.
Butterflies seen - Red Admiral.
Easthaven to Carnoustie via Craigmill Den - Buzzard, Dunnock, Tree Sparrow, Yellowhammer, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Greenfinch, Blue Tit, Wren, Chaffinch, Sparrowhawk, Song Thrush, Reed Bunting, Treecreeper.
Butterflies seen - Painted Lady.
Mammals seen - Grey Squirrel.
Westhaven to Dundee - Dunlin, Turnstone, Sandwich Tern, Gannet, Collared Dove.
