For the first day of my latest week's holiday from work (Saturday) I had a plan to get up very early and head through to Arbroath cliffs to do some seawatching. With winds from the southeast I hoped that birds would be pushed in closer than usual and perhaps something unusual might be in the mix. I slept in however but still decided to head for Arbroath cliffs when I got up. I arrived around noon and headed out to the cliffs where it was initially rather hazy and overcast. However it did eventually burn off resulting in a very nice day. Unfortunately the winds weren't quite strong enough to bring much in close so the seawatching was disappointing. I decided to walk along the cliffs and eventually ended up going all the way to Auchmithie. 44 species of bird, 5 of butterfly and 1 moth species seen in total. Photo opportunities were fairly limited also.
